About Ashlee Marie Hampton
Born in 2000 and raised in Austin, Texas, Ashlee Marie Hampton draws inspiration from the complexities of the human experience, exploring themes of disconnection and the longing for light. She is influenced by the writings of Carl Jung and the works of artists Mark Rothko and Miles Johnston.
Self-taught at first, she began drawing cartoons at an early age and transitioned to conceptual portraiture at 15. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting from the University of North Texas, and works across a variety of mediums, each offering a unique visual language and a wide range of expressive possibilities.
On this collection, in her words: “I am fascinated by the influence our dreams and subconscious have on our lives. In this collection I have attempted to examine and uncover the truths that can be found in these nebulous thoughts. I create these pieces to be a mirror for myself and my viewers to look inward and uncover the internal influences that elude us.”
